The Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) is the nation’s leading organisation dedicated to managing waste responsibly and safeguarding the environment for present and future generations. Established on 12 November 1980, SWMCOL was created to design, implement, and oversee an effective solid waste management system across Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, its role has grown to encompass waste collection, disposal, recycling, and sustainability initiatives that support national development and environmental stewardship.
As a wholly government-owned state enterprise, SWMCOL manages the country’s major engineered landfill sites — including the Beetham, Forres Park, and Guanapo facilities — while providing innovative solutions for general solid waste, special waste, liquid waste, and hazardous waste management. The Company also offers services such as waste recycling, technical consultancy, and portable sanitation rentals.
